01. First Day of Junior Year
I already knew what to expect since I had my schedule the day before. Alice showed up kind of late-ish to pick Melodie and I up, but other than that, there weren’t any problems in my schedule. I’m kind of lonely, but I managed to get decent seats, and I at least know a couple of people in each class. By the looks of it, I managed to get good teachers, too. :D
Moments that stood out during my school day:
- In homeroom, David didn’t believe the freshman I was referring to was a freshman. He kept insisting that it was a senior…til he grabbed his book bag. Then we were all thrown off by his height.
- Melodie and I spent our first period free together. We made strange faces at each other, then overheard advice Andrew, Clifford, and Gary were giving Chewy about Ms. Dobry.
- I really wanted to laugh at Ms. Mugge’s lame joke about the weather, but I didn’t want to be the only one. (APUSH)
- I sit in the middle of three Patricks in Physics. I like Dr. Davis. I hate the arrangement of his classroom. There’s a strange fascination in school about peanut allergies at the moment.
- Found Zara in Ms. Polizzi’s class. I guess something was messed up because she would’ve been near me in our assigned seats, but the alphabetical order went all funny. I don’t know what to think about Ms. Polizzi at the moment.
- Patrick and I thought we were in the wrong classroom at first, since we were in Ms. Pagliaro’s room for Russian, but then Ms. Sokolovski walked in. There are only three girls in this class. Later on, I complained to David about the situation, then he asked me who was my teacher, then I told him I had Soko. He replied something similar to: That makes four! Don’t feel so bad!
- I think I have the new 5th period lunch in 6th. It was pretty nice though. But the line for lunch is SO long, lucky I bring lunch though. I talked to Neriel and David. I blamed David for stealing everyone in his APChem class first two periods. Then Neriel gave me the Vans coupon. Yaaaay.
- Volleyball Gym. I had a lot of people actually. Nothing important happened here really. Delaney cards were troublesome to fill out as always.
After school, I met up with Alice to go to Subway’s while a good majority of people went to the Freshman social looking for new members for Filipino club. We had a delicious sandwich, then we walked back to school to cut through the handball courts to get to the train station. I was regretting wearing a sweatshirt. The weather was all rainy in the morning, then the sun decides to appear. Sigh. I find Jan along the way, and she makes the s57 stop just on time, meanwhile Alice and I continued having to wait.
Moments that stood out during my trip to practice:
- Julie texted that she missed the train. :l She didn’t know how to get to Curtis, but we said that we would go with her so we would meet up with her at the ferry terminal.
- While waiting, Alice and I looked at the fish, then we looked at sodas near the fridges in delis inside of the terminal. While debating which bottle we would hypothetically get, a lady came out of nowhere and she looked pretty distressed. I thought she was angry because we were in her way of buying a soda, but then she started asking us random questions, such as where we’re from and if we spoke a second language. When she found out that we did, she told us that there was an old Chinese couple, where the wife had just fainted and the two of them didn’t understand how dire the situation was; she basically needed us to be the translator between the police and the old couple. We followed the lady out ( I was kind of scared at first because I didn’t know if she was legit or not ), and I was so happy that the old couple wasn’t one of those really mean old Chinese women. They were rather good natured. Alice tried to do some translating between the two of them, and a man told us that the old lady’s blood pressure was really high and they needed to have it checked out just in case she had a stroke or anything. I called my mom asking her how to say blood pressure and ambulance. Eventually, the old couple were compliant to being checked out in the ambulance as long as they didn’t actually go to the hospital. The cop took my phone number and my name. I was so proud, initially I pushed Alice in front to start everything and I would just stand and keep her company, but then in the end I was doing a major part in the translation, especially thanks to my mom with the medical terminology. :D
- Alice and I went back into the ferry terminal to continue our wait for Julie when suddenly there was this outburst going on near the middle of the terminal. Some guy provoked one of the dogs near the center. Obviously, it barked, and the guy said that it wouldn’t be doing that if the men had better control of it. This caused for further argument, where the maturity level dropped down to a 5 year old’s. The guy kept saying, “I’M A REAL MAN.” while one of the dog people kept replying, “NO, YOU’RE A PIECE OF SHIT.” And these two lines just kept going back and forth. Eventually, they both got all close to each other and I really thought someone was about to get hit. Sigh, it was really stupid.
- While getting on the s42 bus to get to Curtis, this guy helped a lady with her parcels. It was so nice. :D He did it without being asked. Then I smiled at the lady and she smiled back.
- Aaah, I missed my coach.
- I scratched my arm trying to get out of the pool at practice. That diving board is vicious, it’s rougher than sand paper!
- Briana got a pretty big splinter in her foot and Annie didn’t have tweezers, so there was an odd splinter operation going on after practice.
- Went home! Ate, showered, this.
All in all, I’m very tired and I will be sore tomorrow. I want to sleep. I miss my bed.
